First snow on the Aiguille Rouge
Winter has arrived at the top of Les Arcs ❄️🎿
About 20 cm of fresh snow has been reported on the upper slopes, with the latest fall on Saturday, 24 October. Another few centimetres are forecast today. At 3,226 m, the Aiguille Rouge is the highest point in the ski area and usually the first place to turn white each autumn.
After that, a dry and mostly clear week is forecast. If you’re in the valley, it should be a good week for photos of the first snow on the peaks.
The altitude helps the whole resort. Les Arcs runs from Villaroger at 1,200 m up to the Aiguille Rouge summit, and 70% of the slopes are above 2,000 m. The snow usually builds steadily from here. In mid-April 2025 the depth at 2,000 m was 560 cm, and the year before it was 627 cm.
The lifts open on Saturday 12 December 2026. There’s 15% off the Pass Classique and Pass Essentiel for the first week (12 to 18 December).
It’s still early, and October snow doesn’t always last, so we’ll post updates as opening day gets closer. In the meantime, save your favourite Arc 2000 and Villaroger spots to a list so they’re ready for your first day.
